It’s a winner! Also bought them for a couple of gardening friends. So easy to use, clear upward facing dial. Very useful to know when soil is warm enough to plant seedlings I’ve propagated. Inexpensive, perfect little gift, matched with a seed dispenser.
I am very pleased with the soil thermometer that I purchased from Aussie Gardener. I use it for sowing seeds because seed germination depends on a particular range of soil temperature. So a thermometer is a must. Also I use it to keep a check on the temperature of my compost bins as a particular range of heat is needed for faster composting.
I inadvertently bought two of these and was pleasantly surprised when I noticed they both showed the same temperature. The metal spike temperature probes make them easy to use and I have collected good information about my veggie bed temps after some hard frosts.
